DermaQuest Sun Protection

Mineral sun protection with zinc oxide for every skin type

DermaQuest Sun Protection offers a complete line of mineral sunscreens with zinc oxide for daily protection against UV radiation, blue light, and infrared. Each formula is based on physical filters — no chemical absorbers — making these SPF products especially suitable for sensitive skin, acne-prone skin, and skin that reacts quickly to traditional sunscreens. Besides protection, all products contain active ingredients such as plant stem cells, peptides, and antioxidants that also care for the skin.

Up to eighty percent of visible skin aging is caused by sun exposure — not by time. Pigmentation spots, fine lines, dullness, and loss of firmness are mostly cumulative photo damage. Daily SPF is therefore not just a summer product but the foundation of every serious skincare and anti-aging routine. Whether your skin is sensitive, mature, pigmentation-prone, or acne-prone: there is a DermaQuest mineral sunscreen that fits.

Why choose DermaQuest Sun Protection?

Mineral sunscreen works differently than traditional chemical SPF: instead of absorbing UV radiation, zinc oxide and titanium dioxide form a physical barrier on the skin and reflect the light. This principle has three important advantages. First, mineral SPF works immediately upon application — no waiting time is needed. Second, it is more tolerable for sensitive skin because no chemical conversion takes place in the skin. And third, zinc oxide adds a soothing effect on irritated or acne-prone skin, while chemical filters can actually cause irritation.

DermaQuest combines this physical protection with cosmeceutical ingredients that are truly active in the deeper skin layers: Argireline, Matrixyl 3000, copper peptides, ceramides, and plant stem cells. The result is a sunscreen that not only protects but also improves the skin — day after day.

Find your ideal sun protection

Transparent without tint — For those who wear SPF under their own makeup or do not want to change their natural skin tone, SheerZinc Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is the right choice. A light, colorless formula with 18.6% zinc oxide and THD Ascorbate that also works well as a base under foundation.

Tinted for a natural complexion — For those who want SPF and light coverage in one, the SheerZinc Tinted line offers three shades with the same formula and protection. SheerZinc Tinted Nude suits light skin tones and neutralizes redness. SheerZinc Tinted Sunkissed gives a warm glow on medium skin tones. SheerZinc Tinted Tan is formulated for dark skin tones without a gray cast.

Anti-aging sun protection with peptides — For mature skin that wants to address active aging alongside protection, there are two options. SunArmor Broad Spectrum SPF 50 offers the highest protection with a double mineral filter (zinc oxide and titanium dioxide) plus Matrixyl 3000 — ideal for summer and intense sun days. 3D Tinted Moisturizing SPF 30 is a complete tinted day cream that combines moisturizer, anti-aging, and SPF in one step.

How to use DermaQuest Sun Protection?

1. Cleanse your face in the morning and apply toner or essence if desired
2. Follow with your serum tailored to your skin needs, for example a vitamin C serum
3. Apply your day moisturizer and let it absorb for a few minutes — skip this step if using 3D Tinted Moisturizing, which replaces the moisturizer
4. Take a coin-sized amount of SPF and warm it between your fingertips
5. Distribute the cream with gentle tapping motions over your face, neck, and décolleté as the last step
6. Reapply every two hours during prolonged sun exposure or outdoor activities

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreen?

Mineral sunscreen contains physical filters such as zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that lie on the skin like a mirror and reflect UV rays. Chemical sunscreen contains molecules like avobenzone or octinoxate that absorb UV and convert it into heat. Mineral SPF works immediately upon application, is more tolerable for sensitive skin, and has a soothing effect. All DermaQuest Sun Protection products are 100% mineral.

Which DermaQuest SPF suits sensitive skin and couperose?

For sensitive skin, the SheerZinc line is ideal because it uses only zinc oxide — an ingredient that has a calming effect on irritated skin. If you also suffer from visible redness, SheerZinc Tinted Nude offers extra benefit as the iron oxides visually neutralize redness.

Do I need SPF in winter as well?

Yes, daily. UVA radiation — responsible for most skin aging — penetrates clouds and glass and is equally strong all year round. Those who use SPF 30 every morning and thus prevent photoaging do more for their skin than someone who gets an expensive anti-aging treatment once a week without daytime protection.

Which SPF should I choose when using retinol or vitamin C?

Retinol and vitamin C make the skin more sensitive to light and thus more vulnerable to photo damage. With intensive use of active ingredients, higher protection is recommended — SunArmor SPF 50 with double mineral filter is the logical choice. For milder use or gentler routines, SheerZinc SPF 30 is sufficient.

Do mineral sunscreens leave a white cast?

With older generation mineral SPF, that was indeed a drawback. DermaQuest formulas use micronized zinc oxide that is much finer and absorbs more transparently. For dark skin tones, a slight cast may remain with the transparent version — for that, SheerZinc Tinted Tan was developed, which fully blends seamlessly with deeply pigmented skin thanks to the iron oxides.
