Jane Iredale Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner

Cream-to-powder eyeliner in 4 colors with brush in the cap

Jane Iredale Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner is a cream-to-powder eye pencil line that combines the best of two formula types: the creamy application of a classic pencil and the long-lasting, water-resistant finish of a powder shadow. Each pot has a built-in removable brush in the cap, allowing you to draw both fine lines and full smoky finishes — and touch up both on the go.

The collection consists of four shades, each serving a different purpose: classic deep black, muted smoky gray with mineral shimmer, warm metallic brown, and jewel-rich purple. All shades are vegan, wheat-free, and based on mineral pigments combined with a film-forming technology that structurally prevents smudging and shifting.

Why choose Jane Iredale Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner?

This line is developed for anyone tired of classic eye pencils due to smudging, color shifting, or the need for repeated touch-ups. The cream-to-powder transition ensures the color sets within seconds after application to a powder-dry finish, which then lasts for hours without migrating into the eyelid crease. For oily eyelids, warm days, long workdays, and bridal makeup, this is a structurally different experience than a regular pencil. The dual use as eyeliner and eyeshadow also means one Mystikol often replaces two products in the makeup bag.

The classic base for sharp definition

For those who wear eyeliner to visually open the eyes. Onyx is the pure deep black for anyone who wants maximum intensity without any smudging — the reference eyeliner for long days and oily eyelids. Smoky Quartz is the muted smoky gray with velvety mineral shimmer, ideal for smoky eyes that refine the eyes and flatter graying hair and cool skin undertones.

The warm luxury and jewel-rich shades

For those who already know classic black or gray and are ready for a subtle color accent. Dark Topaz is the metallic chocolate brown shade with golden undertones, exceptionally flattering on blue eyes and warm skin undertones — also suitable as a natural-looking eyebrow filler. Amethyst is the royal jewel purple that complementarily brightens green and hazel eyes, with a subtle mineral shimmer reminiscent of the gemstone of the same name.

How to use Mystikol Powdered Eyeliner?

1. Unscrew the cap from the pot and pull out the built-in removable brush — it is attached to the inside of the cap
2. Dip the brush carefully into the formula and tap off; one light amount is enough for a thin line, multiple short taps for a full smoky finish
3. Draw the first line directly along the upper lash line from inner to outer corner — the creamy texture applies in one smooth motion
4. If desired, blend out to smoky with a separate shadow brush within ten seconds, after which the formula sets to a powder-dry water-resistant finish
5. Store the brush back in the cap and finish the look with mascara matching the chosen shade — black or brown-black if in doubt

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Mystikol and the classic Jane Iredale Eye Pencil?

The Jane Iredale Eye Pencil is a creamy wax-based pencil that remains blendable for a long time — the classic choice for smoky eyes and warm application. Mystikol is a cream-to-powder formula with structurally higher durability and water resistance. Choose the Eye Pencil for blendability and the classic pencil feel, choose Mystikol for maximum durability and dual use as shadow.

Are Mystikol shades suitable for contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes?

Yes. The formula is vegan, wheat-free, and based on mineral pigments. The powder-dry finish after setting means there is no migration toward the eye, which often happens with cream eyeliners. This makes Mystikol a good choice for contact lens wearers and sensitive eye contours.

How do I remove Mystikol at the end of the day?

Use an oil-based makeup remover or a biphasic cleanser and let it work for two minutes. Water alone does not work — that is exactly what the water-resistant effect relies on. Gently wiping with a cotton pad is then sufficient without pulling on the delicate eye contour.

Can I combine multiple Mystikol shades in one look?

Certainly. A commonly used combination is Onyx on the lash line for sharp definition, with Smoky Quartz or Dark Topaz blended over the movable eyelid as shadow. For special occasions, Onyx and Amethyst work together as a classic smoky with a subtle purple edge on the outer corner.
