DermaQuest MelaQuest SkinBrite

Brightening skincare against pigmentation spots and melasma

The DermaQuest MelaQuest collection, formerly known as SkinBrite, is a clinically developed product line for those who want to tackle stubborn pigmentation spots, melasma, or uneven skin tone. The series combines scientifically supported tyrosinase inhibitors with plant-based brighteners and moisturizing ingredients, without using hydroquinone.

Hyperpigmentation occurs when melanocytes — the pigment cells in the skin — become overactive due to sun exposure, hormonal fluctuations, inflammation, or aging. The MelaQuest collection addresses these causes on multiple levels: from mild daily correction with plant-based brighteners to intensive treatment with cysteamine, an ingredient clinically studied to be more effective than prescription hydroquinone.

Why choose the MelaQuest collection?

Pigmentation spots require an approach that not only fades existing discolorations but also prevents new pigment formation. The MelaQuest series offers a complete routine where each product plays a specific role, from gentle sulfate-free cleansing to deeply penetrating serums. The products are hydroquinone-free, suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types, and can be used alone or in combination with professional skin treatments.

The collection is designed for long-term, daily use without damaging the skin barrier. This makes it different from classic depigmentation treatments, which often can only be used for a limited period. The plant-based brighteners and peptides ensure that skin quality visibly improves during pigmentation correction.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the cysteamine version and the version without cysteamine?

The products without cysteamine work with plant-based brighteners such as shiitake extract, arbutin, vitamin C, and bakuchiol, and are suitable for mild to moderate pigmentation and sensitive skin. The cysteamine versions are more intensive and clinically proven to be more than one and a half times as effective as prescription hydroquinone, ideal for stubborn melasma and deep discolorations.

How long does it take to see results from the MelaQuest collection?

Initial improvements in radiance and skin texture are usually noticeable after two to four weeks. For visible reduction of pigmentation spots, eight to sixteen weeks of consistent use is needed, combined with daily sun protection. Cysteamine products can show first results within seven days.

Is the MelaQuest collection suitable for all skin types?

Yes, the collection is suitable for all Fitzpatrick skin types (I to VI) and all skin types from dry to oily. The cysteamine products are not recommended for very sensitive skin; in that case, the plant-based variants are a more suitable alternative.

Can I combine MelaQuest with retinol or other active products?

MelaQuest can be well combined with retinol, provided the routine is built up gradually. Preferably use retinol in the evening and cysteamine products on separate days to avoid irritation. The plant-based variants are better suited to be combined with other active ingredients in the same routine.

Can I use MelaQuest during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Cysteamine and certain brighteners are not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Always consult your doctor or midwife before using these products during this period.
