Description
Powerful serum for melasma and stubborn pigmentation
When regular brightening products no longer deliver results, the skin calls for a higher-level approach. Stubborn melasma, deep pigmentation and post-inflammatory discoloration often respond only to clinically proven active ingredients that work on multiple levels at once. DermaQuest cysteamine serum was specially developed for these demanding skin concerns.
This DermaQuest cysteamine serum contains micro-encapsulated cysteamine, an ingredient clinically studied to be more than one and a half times more effective than the standard prescription of four percent hydroquinone. The serum is enhanced with pure vitamin C, ginkgo biloba and peptides, enabling visible results within seven days, even on the most stubborn discoloration.
Benefits
- Reduces stubborn pigmentation, melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation
- Clinically studied to work more powerfully than prescription hydroquinone
- Delivers visible results after just seven days of consistent use
- Protects the skin against oxidative stress and new pigment formation
- Suitable for those who previously saw insufficient results with other brighteners
Active ingredients
Cysteamine HCl (4%, micro-encapsulated): A natural cellular component and metabolite of L-cysteine that inhibits melanin production on multiple levels. Cysteamine works both as an antioxidant and a tyrosinase inhibitor, and is the only non-prescription ingredient to have been clinically compared with hydroquinone. Micro-encapsulation ensures gradual release and improved skin tolerance.
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid): Pure L-ascorbic acid in a stabilized formula. Works synergistically with cysteamine to further inhibit melanin production, protects the skin against free radicals and stimulates collagen production for a firmer skin structure.
Acetyl Glycyl Beta-Alanine: A peptide that supports the skin structure during pigmentation correction. Helps maintain skin quality and contributes to smoother, younger-looking skin.
Ginkgo Biloba Leaf Extract: A powerful plant-based antioxidant that calms inflammation and protects the skin against environmental damage. Reduces the risk of irritation while using active ingredients such as cysteamine.
Cyclodextrin: A natural sugar derivative that micro-encapsulates the cysteamine. This allows the active ingredient to be released gradually into the skin, improving both efficacy and comfort.
Phytic Acid: A gentle antioxidant and exfoliant derived from grains and legumes. Helps loosen dead skin cells and supports the penetration of the other active ingredients.

Frequently asked questions
When will I see the first results from this DermaQuest cysteamine serum?
Initial improvements in radiance and skin texture are often noticeable after just seven days. A visible reduction in pigmentation generally requires six weeks of consistent use, while optimal results are achieved after eight to sixteen weeks of consistent use combined with daily sun protection.
Does the serum have a distinctive scent?
Cysteamine naturally has a characteristic scent that cannot be completely masked. The formula was developed so that the scent is largely softened by the other ingredients and dissipates quickly after application to the skin.
Is this serum suitable for sensitive skin?
Due to its high concentration of cysteamine, this serum is generally not recommended for very sensitive skin. For a milder approach, the Advanced MelaQuest Serum without cysteamine is a more suitable alternative. When in doubt, always perform a patch test on the neck area first.
Can I use this serum during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Cysteamine is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Always consult your doctor or midwife before using this serum during this period.
Can I combine this serum with retinol?
Preferably do not combine cysteamine and retinol in the same routine to prevent irritation. For example, use retinol on separate evenings and give your skin sufficient time to tolerate both active ingredients.
