Description
Clay mask with broccoli sprouts against pigmentation spots and redness
Skin with pigmentation spots, redness, or uneven tone requires a specific approach. Standard brightening treatments often use aggressive actives that exhaust or irritate the skin — especially with sensitive or reactive skin. The paradox of skin that needs to be both calmed and brightened calls for ingredients that work on multiple fronts without stressing the skin barrier.
Ayuna Balm K is a mineral clay mask with broccoli sprouts, Tasmanian pepper, and mimetic sapphire that solves this paradox. Broccoli sprouts are 100 times richer in glucoraphanin than other cruciferous vegetables and inhibit the tyrosinase enzyme responsible for pigmentation. Tasmanian pepper — known as the natural lidocaine — immediately soothes congestion and redness. Together they form a mask for what Ayuna aptly calls "non·porcelain skin": skin with texture, color, and character.
Benefits
- Visibly reduces pigmentation spots by inhibiting tyrosinase with sulforaphane from broccoli sprouts
- Soothes redness and congestion thanks to Tasmanian pepper, a natural lidocaine
- Gives immediate radiant glow thanks to mimetic sapphire in the formula
- Refines skin texture and makes pores visibly smaller
- Cleanses deeply without drying out the skin — suitable for sensitive skin
Active ingredients
Broccoli sprouts (Brassica Oleracea Extract): The star ingredient of Balm K. These young sprouts are 100 times richer in glucoraphanin — the precursor to sulforaphane — than mature broccoli. Sulforaphane inhibits the tyrosinase enzyme, which is responsible for melanin production and thus pigmentation spots. Additionally, broccoli sprouts contain a lot of potassium, an essential electrolyte for cell function and moisture balance in the skin. The ingredient also works anti-glycation, which protects the elasticity of collagen and elastin.
Tasmanian pepper (Tasmannia Lanceolata): An Australian plant extract known as "the natural lidocaine" due to its fast, locally soothing effect. Tasmanian pepper visibly reduces redness and sensitivity, making it exceptionally suitable for reactive skin and skin prone to rosacea.
Mimetic sapphire (Aluminum Oxide / Mica): A natural mineral that reflects light on the skin and immediately gives a subtle luminosity after application. At the same time, it visually fades pigmentation spots by evenly distributing light over the skin surface.
Kaolin clay: A white mineral-rich clay that gently absorbs excess sebum and impurities without stressing the skin barrier. Kaolin is known for its mildness and is therefore especially suitable for sensitive and dry skin, unlike stronger clays such as bentonite.
Olive oil and lactobacillus ferment: The olive oil keeps the skin supple during masking and prevents dryness. The lactobacillus ferment is a postbiotic ingredient that nourishes and balances the skin microbiome, which is essential for calming stressed skin.
Coconut extract and castor oil: Plant oils that provide the soft, creamy texture of the mask and leave the skin comfortable after rinsing.
How to use it
- Cleanse the skin thoroughly — ideally after an exfoliation step for optimal absorption of the actives
- Stir the product briefly in the jar so that the clay and oil are evenly distributed
- Apply a generous layer to the face, neck, and décolleté with fingertips or a brush
- Leave the mask on for up to 20 minutes; during this time, the texture transforms into a firming layer
- Add plenty of water, emulsify in gentle circular motions, and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water
- Follow with a serum and day cream; always finish with sun protection in the morning

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Balm and Balm K?
Balm focuses on detoxification with volcanic glass and activated charcoal, and offers an immediate lifting effect via pullulan. Balm K, on the other hand, targets pigment correction, redness, and skin texture, with broccoli sprouts, Tasmanian pepper, and kaolin clay. Both masks are complementary and can be used alternately in a routine: Balm for purification, Balm K for pigment balance and soothing.
How often can I use Balm K?
Twice a week is recommended for structural results on pigmentation and redness. For sensitive skin, twice a week is sufficient; for combination or oily skin with more congestion, up to three times a week. Ideally, use the mask after an exfoliation step for maximum absorption.
Can Balm K be used on rosacea skin?
Yes. Thanks to Tasmanian pepper, kaolin clay, and lactobacillus ferment, Balm K is specifically suitable for rosacea-prone skin because the formula soothes rather than stimulates. However, the product is not recommended for active, inflamed acne.
Does Balm K also work against dark circles around the eyes?
The broccoli sprouts and the mimetic sapphire in the formula can gently brighten pigmentation around the eyes with regular use. Apply a thin layer to the eye contour as a targeted treatment and rinse off gently without stressing the delicate skin.
