Exfoliating cleanser with 2% salicylic acid for blemish-prone skin
Clogged pores, blackheads, and stubborn blemishes occur when dead skin cells and sebum clump together in the pores. A regular cleanser only reaches the surface but does not penetrate this deeper buildup. For that, an ingredient that is fat-soluble and can actually penetrate the pore is needed.
The DermaQuest BHA Cleanser is formulated with 2% salicylic acid, a beta hydroxy acid that purifies pores from within. The formula exfoliates and cleanses in one step and is alternated with the daily cleanser so the skin becomes visibly smoother, calmer, and clearer without drying out.

Active ingredients
Salicylic Acid (2%): A beta hydroxy acid (BHA) that is fat-soluble and therefore penetrates deep into the pore itself. Salicylic acid softens keratin, loosens stuck skin cells, and targets both active blemishes and the cause of blackheads. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and helps fade post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca Alternifolia): A natural antibacterial ingredient that neutralizes acne-causing bacteria and soothes visible redness and inflammation. Its astringent effect enhances the action of salicylic acid and helps prevent new blemishes.
Sorbitol: A natural humectant that draws water to the skin and retains it during cleansing. This keeps the skin balanced and prevents it from feeling tight or dry after exfoliating — an important addition in an active cleansing product.
How to use it
- Use this product only in the evening and no more than three times per week
- First cleanse with your daily cleanser or an oil cleanser to remove makeup and sunscreens
- Lightly moisten the face with lukewarm water and apply a small amount of BHA Cleanser to the palm of your hand
- Massage in gentle circular motions over the face, neck, and décolleté, avoiding the eye area — optionally leave on for up to 3 minutes for extra effect
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and always use sun protection the next morning, as salicylic acid makes the skin more sensitive to sunlight

Frequently asked questions
Can I use this cleanser daily?
No. The BHA Cleanser is an active, exfoliating cleanser intended for use a maximum of three times per week in the evening. On other days, use a milder daily cleanser. Too frequent use can weaken the skin barrier and cause irritation.
Can I combine this cleanser with retinol or other acids?
Be careful when layering active ingredients. Preferably do not use the BHA Cleanser on the same evening as retinol or another exfoliating treatment. Alternate active evenings with recovery evenings where you use hydrating products.
Why is sun protection so important after use?
Salicylic acid exfoliates the skin and temporarily makes it more sensitive to UV radiation. Without daily sun protection, there is a risk of pigmentation spots and accelerated skin aging, especially on skin you are trying to soothe.
Can I use this product during pregnancy?
Salicylic acid in higher concentrations is usually not recommended during pregnancy. Always consult your skin therapist or doctor before using this product if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
