Description
Pink setting powder in Pink for a radiant matte finish
A pink powder might seem like a bold choice, but it works with colour theory. Youngblood Pressed Mineral Rice Setting Powder in Pink is a talc-free pressed powder with a pink undertone. According to Youngblood, this undertone neutralises dullness and a sallow complexion, while the powder sets your makeup with a natural glow. Like the other shades, it is based on rice and corn starch for a soft matte finish.
The pink undertone counteracts blue and green tones in the skin. According to Youngblood, this makes Pink particularly suitable for brightening the eye area and making dark circles less noticeable, and it works on all skin tones. Use it under the eyes to set concealer, on shadowed areas of the face, or as a powder over the whole face for a filtered finish that is matte without looking flat. The powder comes in an 8 g compact, so you also have it to hand on the go.
Shade: Pink is the pink shade alongside Light (creamy white), Medium (warm beige) and Tan (golden beige) and in the photos appears as a soft pink powder. You choose the other three based on your skin tone; you choose Pink mainly for the effect: more brightness and a fresher look. You can also combine Pink with one of the other shades, for example Pink under the eyes and Light, Medium or Tan on the rest of your face. Not sure which combination suits you? Active ingredients
The matte finish comes from two types of starch. Mica, jojoba oil and two plant extracts provide a silky texture and a comfortable feel, including around the eyes:
Rice starch: The main ingredient of this formula. Rice starch keeps shine under control and helps blur the look of pores and texture, creating the silky soft-focus finish. It also helps concealer and foundation stay in place for longer.
Corn starch: Absorbs excess skin oil, so the finish stays matte for longer, even on the T-zone.
Mica: Youngblood uses ethically sourced mica. It gives the powder a subtle sheen and a silky texture; with Pink, this sheen adds to the radiant look.
Jojoba seed oil: Conditions and hydrates the skin. Nice to have in a powder you often use under the eyes, where the skin is thin and delicate.
Green tea leaf extract: Provides antioxidant support that helps keep the skin balanced and refreshed. Together with honeysuckle extract, it contributes to a fresh, shine-free complexion, according to Youngblood.
Honeysuckle flower extract: An antioxidant that helps protect against free radicals and supports the skin barrier.
How to use
- Apply your concealer and foundation as usual and let them set for a moment
- Pick up a little powder with the YB2 Powder Luxe Brush or the YB1 Kabuki Luxe Brush and tap away any excess
- Under the eyes, gently press the powder onto the concealer instead of sweeping, so the concealer stays in place
- Then use what is left on the brush on the shadowed areas of your face, or sweep it gently over the whole face and the T-zone
- Use soft, circular motions to soften the texture and set your makeup
Suitable for
- Anyone who wants to set concealer under the eyes and brighten the eye area
- Anyone who wants to neutralise a dull or sallow complexion
- Anyone looking for a setting powder that is matte without looking flat
- Normal, combination and oily skin, according to Youngblood
Frequently asked questions
Who is Pink meant for?
According to Youngblood, Pink works on all skin tones and is meant for anyone who wants a lighter, more radiant look. It is a setting powder with a pink undertone, so you choose it mainly for the effect rather than for your skin tone. If you want to set the rest of your face with a neutral shade, combine Pink with Light, Medium or Tan.
Where do I apply Pink?
Youngblood mentions three uses: under the eyes to set concealer, on shadowed areas of the face to lift them, or as a powder over the whole face for a filtered, matte finish. Under the eyes, pressing works best; on the rest of the face, sweep the powder out gently.
How does a pink powder work with colour theory?
Colours opposite each other on the colour wheel visually cancel each other out. The pink undertone therefore counteracts the blue and green tones in the skin. The result: dullness and a sallow complexion are less noticeable, dark circles are less visible and the eye area looks lighter.
What is the difference with Loose Pink?
This pressed Pink is a pressed powder in an 8 g compact. The Loose Mineral Rice Setting Powder in Pink is a loose powder in a 10 g jar with a different formula. Youngblood describes the colour-correcting effect of the pink undertone only for this pressed version. If you are looking specifically for that effect, choose this compact.
