Jane Iredale Amazing Base Mineral Powder SPF15 Velvet 10,5g

Velvety mineral powder foundation SPF15 for deep, rich skin tones

The deepest skin tones deserve more than just a foundation that covers — they deserve a finish that takes the natural richness and texture of the skin as its starting point. Velvet is not just a color description: it refers to a quality. The soft, three-dimensional depth of velvet as a metaphor for skin that looks full, lush, and flawless — without anything visibly sitting on top.

The Jane Iredale Amazing Base Velvet is specially formulated with 6.5% titanium dioxide and 1.2% zinc oxide — a thoughtful mineral balance that completely eliminates any gray or white cast on deep skin tones. The micronized mineral formula adheres softly to the skin like a second skin of spun velvet, evens out with broad-spectrum SPF15 protection, and gives the complexion a luminous, full depth that fully brings out its naturally lush character.

Color: A deep, dark brown shade with velvet-soft plum-dark undertones that give the skin a lush, full color depth.

Active Ingredients

Titanium Dioxide (6.5%): In the Jane Iredale Amazing Base Velvet, the concentration of titanium dioxide is deliberately lowered to fully respect the deep, plum-dark color richness of the skin. The finely milled particles adhere transparently to the skin and add a subtle light reflection that visually enriches the velvety color depth of the complexion — without any color distortion or white cast.

Zinc Oxide (1.2%): Additional broad-spectrum protection in a carefully balanced concentration that fully preserves the deep, dark color depth of the skin. The soothing effect of zinc oxide actively neutralizes unevenness without affecting the full, velvety warmth of the complexion in the slightest.

Boron Nitride: This ingredient is completely in its element in the Jane Iredale Amazing Base Velvet. The exceptionally soft, velvety texture of Boron Nitride gives the skin surface a three-dimensional richness that literally lives up to the name of this shade — pores and imperfections visually disappear into an even depth that makes the skin look lush and flawless.

Algae Extract: Actively hydrates and soothes the skin while the powder is worn. For a deep skin tone where a vibrant, hydrated base is essential for a rich, velvety appearance, algae extract maintains the skin’s moisture throughout the day — effectively preventing a dry or matte finish that would mask the full color depth.

Pomegranate Extract (Punica Granatum): An antioxidant-rich ingredient that actively protects the skin against UV-related oxidative damage. For a deep skin tone where an even, clear texture forms the quiet foundation behind a full, lush appearance, pomegranate extract actively preserves skin quality in the long term.

Plankton Extract: Strengthens the skin barrier and increases the skin’s resilience against daily environmental influences. A strong, healthy barrier is the foundation behind skin that radiates the deep, velvety richness of this shade day after day, uninterrupted and vibrant.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Velvet and Warm Brown in the Jane Iredale Amazing Base line?

Warm Brown has earthy, golden-brown undertones and a warm brown color depth. The Jane Iredale Amazing Base Velvet is darker and fuller in character — the plum-dark undertones give the skin a lush, velvety depth that imparts a special richness to the complexion that goes beyond warm brown alone. Both shades use the customized SPF15 formula that completely eliminates white cast on deep skin tones.

Why does Velvet have SPF15 instead of SPF20?

For the deepest shades in the Amazing Base line, the mineral concentration is deliberately lowered. A higher concentration of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide — as found in the lighter shades — causes a white or gray cast on deep skin tones that disrupts the natural color richness. With 6.5% titanium dioxide and 1.2% zinc oxide, Velvet offers full broad-spectrum SPF15 protection, perfectly tailored to the deepest skin tones.

Is the Jane Iredale Amazing Base Velvet also suitable if my skin has an uneven tone?

Yes. The adjustable coverage from light to full makes targeted evening of pigmentation spots and tone differences very possible. Use the Flat Eye Brush for targeted spot application on problem areas, then finish with the Powder Complexion Brush for an even, seamless transition that keeps the velvety richness of the complexion intact across the entire face.
